RED 3005F Foundations of Reading: Early and Emergent Literacy

A study of the developing reading skills and concepts. The course will consist of early literacy development and the conditions which promote total literacy from birth through grade two, providing practice in the selection and use of research-based instructional methods and materials related to teaching reading in the early grades. Connections will be made among all aspects of literacy learning: reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, visual representing, and thinking. Prerequisites: ENG 152 and admission to the Education Program. Three semester hours credit.
