RED 3004 Foundations of Reading: Early and Emergent Literacy
A study of the developing reading skills and concepts. The course will consist of early literacy development and the conditions which promote total literacy from birth through grade two, providing practice in the selection and use of research-based instructional methods and materials related to teaching reading in the early grades. Connections will be made among all aspects of literacy learning: reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, visual representing, and thinking. No field experience is required for this course. Prerequisites: ENG 152 and admission to the Education Program or permission from the Dean of the School of Education. Three semester hours credit.
